Ilona Kish

Ilona Kish (*United Kingdom) has been Managing Director of the European Forum for the Arts and Heritage (EFAH), Brussels, since 2003. After studying Literature and Modern Languages she completed an internship at the Education and Culture Directorate of the European Commission. She acquired her knowledge of international project management at Procter and Gamble, an international consumer products manufacturer. EFAH was founded in 1992 and sees itself as an advocate for the cultural sector, cultural organisations, operators and artists at the European level. One of the major campaigns organised by the EFAH in cooperation with the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) was the campaign “70 Cents for Culture”, which was designed to act as a flagship for coordinating and mobilising the cultural sector at European level and to increase the EU’s culture budget. In 2007 Ilona Kish presides over the Contact Group for Civil Society, a transsectoral network of eight large NGO platforms, which discuss and advance subjects such as democracy and the participation of civil society.
