Dr. Dragan Klaic is Permanent Fellow of the Felix Meritis Foundation (Amsterdam ), a theatre scholar and cultural analyst, teaches cultural policy at the Leiden University. After graduating in dramaturgy in Belgrade and a doctorate in theatre studies and dramatic criticism at Yale University, he held professorships in Belgrade, Amsterdam and in the US, worked as a theatre critic, directed the Theater Instituut Nederland and was 2001 until 2004 the President of the European Forum for the Arts and Heritage (EFAH). He is the author of several books, most recently Europe as a Cultural Project (European Cultural Foundation, Amsterdam 2005). In 2007 he has visiting professorships at the Central European University Budapest and University of Bologna. He is the Chair of the European Festival Research Project. As researcher, lecturer and writer he focuses on contemporary performing arts, cultural development strategies and international culture cooperation, interculturalism and cultural memory.
