Uta Thofern (*1963, Germany) has been editor in chief of DW-WORLD.DE, the internet service of Deutsche Welle Bonn since 2006. Until the end of 2005 she was responsible as editor in chief for the English and German programmes as well as the European programmes/EU projects of DW-RADIO. After studying English studies, history, educational sciences and psychology at Braunschweig Technical University she worked as a news editor and announcer at RTL Luxembourg as well as a presenter at RIAS Berlin. In 2002 she moved from Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) to Deutsche Welle. At MDR she was head of the news editorial office of MDR 1 Radio Thüringen and worked as deputy chief editor of the television news programme mdr aktuell.
